Since I have a tendency of “going dark” when I become busy, I thought it would be good to write about what I’ve been working on.
I had been unemployed for about 2 months - Feb to March - when I got an email from my friend / former colleague David Pagano about a two-month gig making four, minute-long spots for LEGO. Each spot features a different LEGO title: Star Wars, Harry Potter, Pirates of the Caribbean, and Alien Conquest. It has been a blast being back to work with a good friend AND getting back into stop-motion animation. I am particularly excited that David asked me to create the lightsaber effect in the Star Wars spot. David is a true professional and a pleasure to work for.
My part in the LEGO project will wrap up May 31st, and I will be back on the market, looking for the next exciting gig — as well as building up my own personal body of work!!

Sorry for the delayed responses to your questions. By the grace of God, I’ve had a lot of work these past few weeks! And more to come. He is truly amazing. Perplexing sometimes, but always faithful.

It all starts with a drawing (or painting)

A person who draws has a stifling amount of choices (especially when it’s time to choose a major). Animation, Illustration, Fashion design, Cartooning, Graphic design… It’s enough to make you dizzy.
I chose to study animation because it encompassed everything from character design, to movie-making, to video games. Having worked primarily in 2-D Digital Animation in the 3 years since graduation from SVA, I believe it’s time to re-gain my footing and get back to my first love — Drawing. Every breathtaking image you see in every movie starts out as a drawing. I believe my art will take me to the world of Concept Art — character, environment, prop design. I also wish to break into toy design and sculpture this year.

blogono asked:
If you were a super hero what would your power be? What would you stand for/how would you be set apart from the other vigilantes? Who would be your side kick? Finally, who would your arch nemesis be?
Ironically I always pictured myself as the sidekick. Growing up without a strong male example, I loved the idea of having a mentor, and being an apprentice. That is why I love the modern incarnation of Batman & Robin. I would follow a hero like Batman who does not compromise with evil, but also does not take vengeance (by way of killing). Like the Dynamic Duo, we would fight for those who can’t fight for themselves, both proactively and reactively. Our enemy would be anyone who exploits the rights of the people of NYC.
But to answer your question, I have always wanted the power of telekenesis - lifting objects with my mind. How bad-ass is it when Magneto levitates the truck X-Men 2?! This ability has defensive and offensive capacity and also makes flight possible. Its the gift that keeps on giving. Good question!!
swordspirit asked:
The earth is about to be annihilated by a giant meteor in two days time, what is the first thing you will do?
I would hop on a train to my mom’s house in Northport, Long Island. Then we would hold a prayer service at her house. Good question!
burstingseams asked:
At what age did you realize you could draw (well) and when did you start investing in it?
I started drawing when I was 3 by mimicking my older brother, who at the time could impeccably draw Bart Simpson. I was hooked after that. I realized I could draw well in third grade when I brought a drawing of all the X-Men into class for show and tell. My classmates went bananas (especially the bro’s). I wasn’t expecting any praise but I realized that people love these characters as much as I do, and that I should keep drawing.
What a great question! The best Marvel movie to date is Iron Man, hands-down. Director John Favreau not only stayed true to the iconic character, but made him COOLER than his comic-bound counterpart. Like Batman Begins, Iron Man makes an unbelievable world believable by flawlessly guiding us through the pain and the victory that lead to the birth of a superhero. There is something beautiful about a superhero who earns his powers, rather than inheriting them by genetics or serendipity.
